Data Science Manager at Code for America in United States Full Time

Responsibilities:

• Deliver insights to support service improvements.
• Support, coach, and develop a team of data scientists.
• Foster an inclusive and equitable working environment.
• Conduct descriptive data analysis to identify problems.
• Develop metrics to measure the effectiveness of services.
• Apply AI/ML techniques to improve product delivery.
• Manage a team of 3-5 direct reports.
• Hold regular 1:1s with team members for coaching.
• Perform check-ins to ensure alignment on performance.
• Advise the Senior Director on team health and goals.
• Develop team operations and rituals.
• Partner cross-functionally to improve outcomes.

Requirements:

• At least 7 years of experience in data science.
• 2 years of experience in people management.
• Expert in Python, SQL, and R.
• Proficient with Postgres and cloud data warehousing.
• Expertise in data orchestration tools like Dagster.
• Skilled with dbt for data transformation.
• Experience with Metabase or similar BI tools.
• Familiarity with machine learning frameworks (PyTorch, etc.).
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Proven ability to lead diverse, inclusive teams.
