Summary:
Nodak Insurance Company is seeking a Liability Claims Specialist to advise and assist claim personnel in handling claims according to established procedures. The role involves providing support to claim management, claimants, insureds, and agents to deliver excellent claims service.
Responsibilities:
- Advise and assist claim file handling to ensure adherence to claim procedures.
- Provide guidance on coverage, legal questions, and reserving, and monitor litigation files.
- Conduct liability file reviews and provide feedback and training for claims representatives.
- Identify, evaluate, and recommend processes or tools to improve claims service.
- Monitor statistical reports and advise claims representatives on corporate goals.
- Review, negotiate, direct investigations, and settle claims.
- Manage litigation files and work with defense counsel for settlements or trial strategy.
- Authorize settlements exceeding claim representative authority.
- Respond to calls regarding claims handling, coverage, etc.
- Evaluate subrogation procedures to ensure appropriate recovery.
- Monitor arbitration filings and attend hearings as needed.
- Attend and settle mediation cases on behalf of the company.
- Prepare reports for management as requested.
- Oversee the claim office operation in the absence of the director.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Minimum of seven years of claim adjusting experience, with preference for two years in a supervisory role.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Effective decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Relationship management skills for dealing with various stakeholders.
- In-depth knowledge of insurance coverages, tort law, claims management, and relevant technical skills.
- Certifications: AIC, CPCU, or ongoing education as required.
