Asia Communications Manager Full Time

Summary:

  • ProVeg International is a food awareness organization focused on transforming the global food system by promoting plant-based and cultivated foods to replace animal products by 2040.
  • ProVeg is expanding its reach with a representative office in China and is recruiting for the role of Communications Manager to help implement communication strategies in support of their mission and campaigns.
  • The organization works closely with UN food and environment agencies and operates globally, with over 220 employees in 14 countries across five continents.
  • The Communications Manager will be responsible for driving key communication strategies and campaigns in China to raise awareness about alternative proteins and promote sustainable food practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement key communication strategies and interventions in collaboration with the Managing Director, Asia, ProVeg China team, and international teams.
  • Drive programs and campaigns aimed at changing the behavior of the public, institutions, retailers, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Create pitches, press releases, blogs, articles, and other communication materials in both Chinese and English as required.
  • Organize press conferences and events.
  • Cultivate relationships with media and digital influencers.
  • Manage social media accounts in Asia including WeChat, RED, Instagram, and more.
  • Ensure media and outward-facing communications are aligned with strategies and effectively tailored to audiences.
  • Handle press inquiries, interviews, and local event logistics.
  • Keep abreast of alternative protein issues and trends relevant to the role.
  • Undertake additional duties as directed by the Managing Director, Asia.

Requirements:

  • Strong experience in a PR/communications role, with expertise in writing captivating content for diverse media and audiences.
  • Relevant degree or equivalent qualification in Journalism, Media, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Proven track record in running successful campaigns on both international and Chinese social media platforms.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in both Chinese and English, with a preference for bilingual candidates.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with journalists and media outlets.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Positive, adaptable, and professional outlook with the ability to bond with diverse stakeholders.
  • Alignment with ProVeg’s mission and ability to advocate for it globally.
  • A substantial media network, particularly within China, with contacts in business and lifestyle media.
  • High flexibility and proactive work ethic.
