Summary:
- As an Associate Professor of the CDL program at Kilgore College, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive instruction to students seeking Commercial Driver’s Licenses. This position plays a crucial role in preparing students for successful careers in the transportation and logistics industry.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct classroom lectures and practical demonstrations on CDL regulations, safety protocols, and driving techniques as defined by the FMCSA.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that adhere to state CDL requirements and industry standards.
- Provide hands-on training and supervision during vehicle operation to ensure students learn proper driving skills.
- Assess student progress through tests, evaluations, and observations, providing constructive feedback for improvement.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and completion of required training hours.
- Collaborate with other instructors and administrative staff to enhance curriculum and program effectiveness.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and advancements in CDL training to incorporate into teaching practices.
- Must be willing to obtain all endorsements available on a commercial license.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- CDL Class A or B license with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional driving experience, preferably in commercial transportation.
- Proven experience in teaching, training, or mentoring individuals in a classroom or instructional setting.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse groups of students, bilingual a plus.
- Strong understanding of CDL regulations, safety practices, and industry standards as defined by CFR 49 and the FMCSA.
- Certification as a CDL Instructor a plus.
