Responsibilities:
- Respond to interpreting sessions promptly and conduct interpretation in a friendly and professional manner.
- Render correct concepts and meanings according to established interpretation protocol, avoiding omissions or additions.
- Speak clearly in both Benaadir and English, using proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions.
- Maintain professionalism throughout interpreting sessions.
- Remain calm in emergency situations, including 911 calls.
- Follow client instructions to ensure expectations are met with the Limited English-speaking Person (LEP).
- Understand terminology for industries such as medical, insurance, finance, and law.
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and work effectively in a diverse environment.
- Manage calls that may be emotionally or stressful, especially during high call volumes or extended sessions.
Requirements:
- Fluency in Benaadir and English, with cultural competency.
- Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
- Ability to remain neutral and objective during sensitive conversations.
- Previous education or work experience in language-related fields like teaching or translation is preferred.
- Ability to adapt to technological enhancements.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Must not require sponsorship for employment authorization in the U.S.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to read and write the requested languages (highly preferred).
- Successful completion of a pre-employment background check and/or drug screen may be required.
