Community Manager Volunteer

Summary:

We Make Change, through its venture studio AirlyBird, empowers founders in Africa and Australia to build impactful startups. Based in Lagos, Nigeria, the Community Manager volunteer role focuses on growing a network of founders, investors, and innovators remotely, addressing social and environmental challenges to foster innovation and economic growth.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute a strategy to grow and engage the Nest community.
• Foster meaningful connections among founders, investors, experts, and partners.
• Organise online and offline events, workshops, and networking opportunities.
• Curate and share valuable content with the community (newsletters, updates, event recaps).
• Manage community platforms and channels (Slack, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, etc.).
• Be the first point of contact for community inquiries and member onboarding.
• Build partnerships with accelerators, VC firms, DFIs, NGOs, and ecosystem enablers.
• Support AirlyBird’s venture-building team with community-sourced insights and opportunities.
• Drive initiatives that support diversity, inclusion, and impact within the community.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience in community management, startup ecosystems, accelerators, or similar roles.
• Proven track record of growing and engaging communities, ideally in impact investing or startups.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
• Experience managing events and partnerships in Africa’s startup ecosystem.
• Based in Nigeria (ideally Lagos) or able to work remotely.
