Director, Clinical Artificial Intelligence (Remote) Full Time

• The Director, Clinical Artificial Intelligence role involves identifying and driving AI solutions to improve AbbVie’s clinical trials and development performance.
• The Director will act as a key member of the CDO Capabilities Leadership Team and collaborate with various teams across R&D to identify, prioritize, and lead AI projects.
• The role requires leadership in managing resources, budgets, and delivering impactful outcomes, as well as driving AI adoption and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the identification, execution, implementation, adoption, and continuous improvement of AI solutions to enhance clinical trial performance, speed, quality, and efficiency.
• Translate clinical and therapeutic needs into AI-driven solutions, ensuring alignment with strategic R&D priorities.
• Collaborate with scientists, clinicians, study teams, and AI specialists to prioritize and lead AI projects.
• Ensure alignment and coordination of AI initiatives with existing programs such as Convergence and Quantum Leap.
• Manage resource allocation, project budgets, and deliverables to ensure substantial ROI and impactful outcomes.
• Facilitate knowledge transfer and best practices in AI applications within clinical trial contexts.
• Stay abreast of emerging AI technologies and methodologies to inform strategic decision-making.
• Act as a strategic consultant on AI integration within therapeutic areas to solve complex clinical challenges.
• Influence the talent strategy within assigned functions to enhance the digital skills and acumen of scientists and leaders.
• Lead, mentor, and develop direct reports to foster a high-performing team environment.

Requirements:

• Advanced degree with 12+ years of experience in clinical development, data analytics, and AI applications.
• Proven track record of leading successful AI projects in clinical or biomedical domains.
• Deep understanding of clinical trial processes and challenges, with the ability to translate these into AI solutions.
• Strong background in AI, machine learning, and data science, with practical experience applying these in clinical settings.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, capable of engaging cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with regulatory environments and compliance requirements related to AI in clinical trials.
• Experience managing projects with complex, multidisciplinary teams and budgets.
• Demonstrated ability to innovate and drive change in large, matrixed organizations.
• Proven experience in leading, mentoring, and developing direct reports.
