Engineering Manager for IAM (Identity and Access Management) Full Time

Summary:

Canonical, a growing international software company, is seeking an Engineering Manager for IAM to lead a team in building secure identity and access management solutions using Go and Python. These solutions will integrate across all Canonical products, including Ubuntu One SSO, Juju, LXD, and MAAS. The company collaborates with the open-source community to deliver Ubuntu, the world’s best free software platform, helping businesses reduce costs and enhance security.

Responsibilities:

• Build high-performing Go and Python services for identity and access management.
• Define technical vision for products with product management.
• Manage team backlog and review code.
• Coach younger team members in software development.
• Design software and write high-quality code and tests.
• Provide insightful code reviews and write documentation.
• Troubleshoot issues in software systems.
• Work with upstream open source projects and internal teams.
• Participate in hackfests, webinars, and conferences.

Requirements:

• Proven experience hiring and leading a high performance software engineering team.
• Experience with Go and Python software development.
• Ability to design and implement complex, distributed systems.
• Experience working with container technology and Kubernetes.
• Strong understanding of software/infrastructure security and performance.
• Experience designing and/or operating large scale distributed systems.
• Knowledge of identity and access management technologies and standards is desirable but not essential.
