Finance & Accounting Specialist Full Time

Summary:

American College of Education, a leader in online professional development since 2005, seeks a Finance & Accounting Specialist to reconcile student payments and support accounts payable/receivable tasks. Responsibilities:

• Reconcile student payments to the student information system and general ledger (e.g., credit card payments, lockbox).
• Process award and audit third-party financing arrangements with student accounts to ensure third-party financing funds are properly received and reported.
• Review and audit student ledgers for charges, scholarships, degree conferral, and grants.
• Manage other payment options for students (e.g., payroll, direct bill).
• Manage financial holds and department email inbox.
• Manage and assist with collections, which involves outreach to students.
• Assist with finance and accounting duties as workload requires.
• Assist with training new hires or team members in cross-training.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business, or 4 years of related work experience.
• 2-3 years of accounting/bursary experience.
• Experience with Campus Nexus Student Information System (preferred).
• Demonstrates self-reliance by meeting/exceeding workflow needs.
• Demonstrates positive attitude and motivation, concern for students, teamwork, and excellent time management skills.
• Follows established processes as outlined by organization and leadership.
• Completes assigned duties based on daily business needs and individual skill set.
• Consistently produces a high volume of quality work.
• Capable, and adapts as needed, to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Proven ability to work independently with limited supervision and with other department personnel.

• Internet bandwidth speeds from remote work location must be a minimum of 50Mbps download speeds and 5Mbps upload speeds.
• Cannot reside in Alaska, Washington D.C., Massachusetts, South Dakota, or Alabama.
