Responsibilities:
- Serve as a House Advisor and coach 18-20 students, providing academic guidance and support.
- Actively collaborate with students and families to provide necessary resources and support.
- Facilitate learning experiences including Expeditions, Activities, and Independent Studies.
- Develop new learning experiences with curriculum staff and continuously improve current expeditions.
- Track student progress using internal software and provide feedback on student performance.
- Support school, community, and company growth by contributing to model, culture, and processes.
- Communicate proactively and thoughtfully with the team, students, and guardians using internal tools.
Requirements:
- Experience at the secondary or postsecondary level in Algebra I through Calculus, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Environmental Science.
- Experience with coding or robotics preferred.
- Strong belief in student-driven education and respect for adolescents’ ability to guide their learning.
- Demonstrated subject matter expertise in STEM.
- Alignment with Sora’s academic model and philosophy, including interest in progressive education.
- Excited to work in a startup environment and adapt to a rapidly evolving school model.
- Strong critical thinking skills and an interest in furthering personal learning.
- Effective communication skills with students and adults in a remote setting.
- Invested in DEIB principles and fostering these values in the educational process.
- Bonus: Experience with virtual learning, independent learning, and familiarity with tech tools and platforms.
