Description:
- The Authorization Specialist is responsible for managing the data entry and update of patient specific authorization information into the EMR system.
- Working with the Operations and Revenue Cycle teams to ensure all applicable patient accounts are authorized and set up for correct payor for the Billing team.
- Completes Eligibility Verification.
- Completes Authorization Setup.
- Applies Payor Corrections.
- Timely Review and Communication of Changes.
- Completes EMR Workflow.
- Monitors Recertifications.
- Auth Appeals.
- High Volume.
- Maintain Relationships with Payors.
- Stay current on payor updates and changes.
- Reports to all scheduled work sites and shifts on time and fully prepared to engage in all job responsibilities; location of work sites and shifts will change at the discretion of the supervisor.
Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent with two (2) years college.
- Preferred two (2) years of experience in health care data entry, preferably in healthcare.
- Preferred one (1) year of previous healthcare-related billing experience.
- Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.
