Summary:
WSP is one of the most diverse consulting firms in Africa. They are seeking an HR Officer to support HR Business Partners in delivering human resources services, with a focus on operational people issues, employee relations, recruitment, and lifecycle activities. The role also involves supporting the People, Culture & Engagement team to deliver administrative and operational HR services across South Africa.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare documentation, evidence, and supporting materials for Disciplinary, Grievance, Absenteeism, and Redundancy processes.
- Facilitate the necessary arrangements for meetings and support these meetings, including minute taking.
- Provide guidance on day-to-day people activities such as exit interviews, return-to-work interviews, family leave, and flexible working requests.
- Support the HR Advisors in producing practical guidance documents for Line Managers.
- Ensure flawless execution of activities related to onboarding, employee variations, payroll, benefits, absence management, policy interpretation, and implementation.
- Support training delivery and recruitment activities, including job specifications, advertising, screening, and interview support.
- Support bi-annual and annual events such as career development engagement, salary reviews, benchmarking, and employee surveys.
- Deputize for HR Business Partners in representing HR functions and support employees.
- Coach, mentor, guide, and influence the HR Administration team.
- Act as a conduit for communication, sharing knowledge and best practices across the HR function.
- Support countrywide HR initiatives such as efficiency improvement programs, acquisitions, restructuring, and policy development.
- Model SHEQ performance and behavior consistent with the company’s health, safety, environmental, and quality vision and policies.
- Contribute to identifying SHEQ risks and driving processes to achieve Zero Harm.
Requirements:
- Awareness and basic understanding of generalist HR and implementation of statutory and company policies.
- Experience in building rapport and gaining credibility with line managers and employees.
- Interest in business, commercial, and operational issues and their impact on the people agenda.
- Ability to engage with people throughout all levels within the company and provide feedback.
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and communicate data.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple activities.
- Positive proactive attitude with high accountability for service delivery.
- Strong IT skills across Microsoft Office packages and good understanding of HR systems and databases.
- Diploma/B.Tech/B.Degree in Human Resource Management or similar.
- 1 to 3 years’ experience in human resources within a medium-sized company.
- Experience in recruitment and administration of HR activities throughout the lifecycle.
- Experience with Sage VIP People is advantageous.
- Registration, or working towards registration, with SA Board for People Practices is advantageous.
