- The Instructional Designer will support the Senior Instructional Designer in creating and delivering online content for online programs.
- The position is part-time, working approximately 20 hours per week, with an hourly rate of $30 – $59, depending on education and experience.
Responsibilities:
- Support and model the mission of Vermont Law and Graduate School.
- Collaborate and communicate with the instructional design and online teams.
- Provide technical and pedagogical support to construct and deliver content in an online format.
- Assist Faculty, SMEs, and CDs with technical tools to define and refine learning outcomes.
- Help design assignments and learning activities that facilitate mastery of learning outcomes.
- Provide instructional, technological, and pedagogical program and course review, including quality assurance.
- Offer recommendations on instructional materials, learning activities, assessments, and technology tools.
- Participate in project and process management related to course and program development.
- Design, collect, and interpret data to assess learning outcomes and improve the student experience.
- Ensure courses meet accessibility and compliance standards and address accessibility barriers.
- Apply universal design principles in online course design.
- Enforce copyright compliance in course development and delivery.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation agencies and professional organizations.
- Assist in designing and delivering training materials related to online teaching.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in instructional design, educational technology, or a related field.
- Experience mentoring/training instructors in educational technology and pedagogy, preferably in higher education.
- At least one year of online course or program development experience, preferably in graduate and professional education.
- Knowledge and commitment to inclusion, working with diverse students, faculty, and staff.
- Experience in a deadline-driven technology production environment.
- Knowledge of current standards and best practices in instructional design and accessibility.
- Knowledge of visual design and user experience principles for engaging online courses.
- Proficiency in at least one learning management system, such as Canvas.
- Expertise in Microsoft Office (365) programs and virtual settings.
- Knowledge of asynchronous/synchronous delivery applications.
- Familiarity with educational technology applications like Adobe Creative Suite, Panopto, and Articulate Storyline.
- Ability to learn new technology platforms and services.
- Impeccable writing, editing, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interact with diverse constituencies, both independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and deadlines, and work under pressure.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
- Must be able to work legally within the United States without sponsorship.
