Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the resolution of incidents and pended open incidents.
- Initiate appeals and verify demographic and insurance information when necessary.
- Review and monitor reimbursements from different insurance companies.
- Determine appropriate collection methods and follow-up according to compliance guidelines.
- Contact insurance carriers by phone and document work performed.
- Work outstanding accounts daily to ensure payment of open incidents.
- Review the Explanation of Benefits from insurance companies and take necessary actions.
- Appeal claims that are denied or underpaid and request adjustments from clients.
- Advise the supervisor of insurance denial trends.
- Respond to inquiries from account managers and insurance carriers.
Requirements:
- Previous medical billing experience, with multiple specialty experience preferred.
- Extensive experience with CPT codes, Modifiers, and DX codes.
- Experience with payer guidelines, physician billing, appeals, and denials.
- Previous experience with private, government, and workers’ compensation insurance companies is a plus.
- Strong verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
- Ability to adjust to urgent issues and change tasks as needed.
- Ability to work with individuals at all organizational levels.
