Medical Writer Full Time

Summary:

The Medical Writer position at Precision Medicine Group supports cutting-edge work in launching treatments and improving patient outcomes. Responsibilities:

• Write core claims, under the direction of a more senior Medical staff member.
• Maintain a current core claims/messaging document based on client comments.
• Write competitive intelligence summaries.
• Create and deliver clinical downloads with minimal supervision.
• Collaborate with copy writers to ensure messaging is supported.
• Identify gaps in team knowledge and proactively create mini-clinical downloads.
• Conduct basic insight mining by comparing product labels.
• Create core claims from clinical and scientific documents.
• Fact check documents.
• Conduct literature searches.
• Create figures and tables.
• Educate teammates on aspects of science and medicine that relate to the brands they work on.

Requirements:

• Education: Advanced science degree (PhD, PharmD, MD, or comparable degree).
• May require travel domestically and/or internationally including overnight stays.
• This position requires at least 1 year of experience as a Medical Writer or some comparable experience (e.g., internships in other agencies).
• Prior agency experience need not be Medical in nature.
• Know what a core claims document is and its purpose.
• Know the rationale for competitive intelligence.
• Know what a clinical download is and its purpose.
• Know what copy writers are trying to do when crafting promotional messages.
• Have a firm command of regulations governing communications by pharmaceutical companies (21 CFR §202.1, 21 CFR §312.7, Private Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995) and how they affect, or not, promotional claims.
• Know the criteria that make a clinical study strong or weak.
• Have a working knowledge of basic statistics.
• Have a basic understanding of the major departments at our clients and what their mission is: Commercial, Market Access, Medical, Legal, Regulatory.
