Viking, a leading travel company founded in 1997, offers destination-focused voyages and has won over 250 awards. The company is seeking an OCEAN – Storekeeper to join its team in Sub-Saharan Africa. This role supports storage operations and maintains supply inventory while upholding Viking’s high standards and STAR Service values.
Maintain storage areas in clean and tidy manner, including Consumables area and Uniform’s lockers.
Follow Public Health requirements on a daily basis.
Prepare internal requisitions, once approved by the relevant supervisor, and distributed by Provision Master.
Take active part of each loading and off loadings in accordance with safety regulations.
Perform all required physical inventories.
Communicate about Low Stocks to avoid shortages.
Communicate about Expiry and Slow Moving items to avoid spoilage / wastage of goods.
Cooperate with all team members, helping others.
Implement and follow up on correct Stock Rotation Procedures and ensure that first-in first-out (FIFO) regulations are in place and storerooms are properly organized.
Participate in “The Daily Reunion” every day to understand your team’s operational needs and to ensure consistent adherence to Viking’s STAR Service Standards.
Ensure you always wear the appropriate and task specific Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required for your duties onboard.
Always use correct lifting techniques to prevent injuries.
Uphold impeccable grooming standards at all times by complying with Viking’s Image and Uniform Standards.
Ensure that company property is appropriately secured and protected, especially during rough weather conditions, in order to prevent unnecessary loss or damage.
Demonstrate outstanding flexibility: must be able to work at different times of the day, under pressure and reflect a positive can-do attitude and the best image of Viking at all times.
Become knowledgeable about itinerary-related ports of call, shore excursions and shipboard activities such as events, entertainment and programs.
Have strong motivation to achieve the company goals and objectives (quality and financial) for the Inventory Department.
Have full knowledge about safety & security procedures and can operate in line with all Public Health, Environmental and Safety & Security Policies.
Participate in all training concerning onboard training, safety & security, fire prevention, evacuation exercises as required by the company.
A required minimum of one year’s experience as a Food & Beverage Storekeeper or in a similar role.
Extensive knowledge of food products, storeroom operations and storage procedures are required.
Shipboard experience is an advantage.
Fluent in English with excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to speak an additional language is an advantage.
Must be flexible, stress resistant, and a committed team player with an exceptional work ethic.
Experience in material management systems is very welcome, especially in use of MXP.
Strong administration skills are preferred and must be proficient with PC-based databases, spreadsheets, and word processing systems.
Positive and hands-on personality, professional appearance, and impeccable hygiene standards.
Excellent knowledge of all Public Health Policies required.
Participation in “The Daily Reunion” for team alignment and updates.

Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and lifting technique training to prevent injuries.
