Summary:
- The Outside Mortgage Loan Originator role focuses on increasing the mortgage loan portfolio by developing business contacts, attracting customers, evaluating and approving real estate loans, and advising borrowers on their financial status and payment methods.
- The position requires conducting mortgage loan sales outside the office in the field, managing interactions with both potential and existing customers.
Responsibilities:
- Approve loans for mortgage customers within specified limits and refer loan applications outside those limits to senior management/loan committee for approval.
- Contribute to strategic plans and reviews, ensuring mortgage loan operational standards are met by implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer service standards.
- Attract new mortgage loan applications by developing relationships within the community, specifically with the real estate community, and making sales calls to prospective customers.
- Approve mortgage loans by examining applications, supporting documentation, estimating credit-worthiness, and calculating repayment risk.
- Complete mortgage loans by monitoring collection, verification, and preparation of mortgage loan documentation, and scheduling the loan closing.
- Stay updated on industry knowledge through educational opportunities, professional publications, and participation in professional organizations.
- Attend chamber and civic meetings to expand network contacts, and collaborate with other mortgage loan officers to contact individuals, realtors, and builders.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of FHA, VA, or conventional loan rules, regulations, and guidelines.
- Protect the bank’s image by keeping mortgage loan information confidential.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
- Prior lending experience.
- Call Center experience.
- Sales and service-oriented.
- Proficiency in MS Office and mortgage software.
- Strong understanding of lending procedures.
- Ability to function independently in a multi-task environment and as part of a team.
- Ability to analyze information and make informed decisions.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Must exhibit professionalism.
