Outside Property Claim Representative Trainee Full Time

Summary:

  • This position services Insureds/Agents in and around Loveland, Colorado.
  • The selected candidate must reside in or be willing to relocate to the assigned territory at their own expense.
  • It is an entry-level position that requires satisfactory completion of training to advance to Claim Professional, Outside Property.
  • The role focuses on developing skills for investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and resolving claims of lesser complexity.
  • The position is 100% remote, with a combination of mobile work and/or work from the primary residence.
  • The position requires the completion of an online pre-employment assessment as part of the hiring process.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete required training, including a mix of online, virtual, classroom, and on-the-job training, potentially requiring travel.
  • Handle 1st party property claims of moderate severity and complexity.
  • Establish the scope of damages for building and contents losses and use estimates to determine the settlement amount.
  • Investigate and evaluate facts to determine coverage, damages, business interruption, and liability for first-party property claims.
  • Establish timely and accurate claim and expense reserves.
  • Determine settlement amounts using estimates, contractor estimates, appraisals, and other tools.
  • Negotiate and settle claims within authority limits.
  • Write denial letters, Reservation of Rights, and other complex correspondence.
  • Assess damages and manage claims using cost evaluation tools.
  • Maintain diaries and documents for claims in accordance with established procedures.
  • Manage file inventory to ensure timely resolution of cases.
  • Provide excellent customer service to insured, agent, and other stakeholders.
  • Recognize when to refer claims to the Special Investigations Unit and/or Subrogation Unit.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as expense accounts and time-off reporting.
  • Assist with multi-line claims handling in response to workforce management needs.
  • Attend legal proceedings such as depositions, mediations, and trials as needed.
  • Secure and maintain company credit card required for role.
  • May need to obtain and maintain Insurance License(s) to comply with state and Travelers requirements.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in required skills to progress to Claim Representative.
  • Be capable of accessing and inspecting all areas of a dwelling or structure, including climbing a ladder and inspecting tight spaces.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED and one year of customer service experience OR Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or a minimum of two years of work or customer service-related experience.
  • Basic communication, attention to detail, and analytical skills required.
  • Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment managing multiple priorities.
  • A valid passport is preferred.
