The University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) is seeking a Patient Accounts Receivable Representative I to support revenue cycle operations. This role ensures the accurate handling of account balances through insurance claims, payment collections, and reimbursement compliance within Maryland’s leading academic health system.
Works and maintains assigned receivables using work queues, age trail balance reports (ATBs), and special projects to resolve account balances and reduce uncompensated care.
Collaborates with third-party insurers to obtain maximum reimbursements and reduce accounts receivable.
Reviews financial references including reimbursement guidelines, regulations, and payer-specific policies.
Ensures correct insurance claim processing by interpreting payer responses, requesting adjustments, submitting appeals, evaluating patient financial responsibility, and resolving claim rejections and denials.
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
One year of work experience in general collections, accounts receivable oversight, or customer service.
Hourly pay range of $19.5 to $27.31.
