Responsibilities:
- Lead the research and development of new measurements, KPIs, models, and products to provide actionable insights on connected experiences.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of data pipelines and infrastructure.
- Influence technical and methodological decisions for the team.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to guide team members.
- Develop approaches for statistical testing of measurements and KPIs.
- Work closely with data engineers and product managers to turn methodology into data products.
- Develop methodologies to detect anomalies and ensure data quality and integrity.
- Support and collaborate with brand licensing, sales, technical presales, and industry analysts.
- Protect Ookla’s credibility by ensuring consistency and quality in products and public-facing outputs.
- Create internal tools, packages, and documentation for reproducible reporting and self-service.
- Mentor and coach team members to foster their professional growth.
Requirements:
- A Ph.D. or Master’s degree in computer science, statistics, data science, or equivalent experience.
- Strong foundation in statistical inference, hypothesis testing, and data analysis techniques.
- Expertise in programming languages like Python or R.
- SQL expertise and experience building complex queries against large data sets.
- Strong understanding of data pipeline and ETL processes.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Excellent communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven history of project ownership and cross-team collaboration.
- Team leadership and a willingness to learn from and teach others.
- Experience with internet, cellular, and broadband technology and infrastructure.
- Background check required.
