Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and train the accounting team, ensuring high standards of performance and collaboration.
- Provide guidance and support to junior accountants and bookkeepers as they join the team.
- Oversee and manage day-to-day accounting team activities and tasks, including preparation of financial reporting, tax returns, and other compliance activities.
- Focus on Australian tax and superannuation fund management to ensure all regulations and deadlines are met.
- Identify and implement improvements to existing accounting processes and systems.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory changes to maintain compliance and efficiency.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports to support decision-making.
Requirements:
- CPA or equivalent professional certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with a focus on Australian tax and superannuation fund management.
- Proven track record in training and mentoring accounting staff.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate a team.
- High level of confidence and initiative, capable of independently running the accounting team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficient in Xero and XPM – Xero Certification.
- Xero Payroll.
- Experience with BGL360 and FYI Docs.
