Senior Database Administrator I (Hybrid) Full Time

Summary:

The Senior Database Administrator I (Hybrid) at Kaplan ensures database stability and reliability for Kaplan North America (KNA). Kaplan, a global education leader since 1938, combines technology and collaboration in Bengaluru, India, to enhance educational experiences and support professional growth worldwide.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage databases by designing, installing, configuring, and maintaining complex database systems.
  • Monitor database systems for performance issues and implement corrective measures.
  • Optimize queries and database configurations to improve performance.
  • Provide technical guidance and support on database-related developmental tasks.
  • Provide operational support in the management of databases based on a variety of systems, such as VMWare, EC2, Azure VM, WSFC clusters, and AO clusters.
  • Support the deployment of code and execution of complex tasks on KNA databases, including, but not limited to, application deployments, O/S and database engines patches and upgrades, data refreshes in non-production environments, and security changes.
  • Maintain and upgrade DBA tools and settings (proactively or by request) of enterprise monitoring tools.
  • Use/Maintain documentation/runbooks related to periodical tasks, like upgrades, environment refresh tool, security changes.
  • Complete on-call rotations and work outside regular business hours and on weekends.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of experience in the field.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
  • Experience with Azure/AWS/On-Prem Ms-SQL Databases (Preferred).
  • Experience with monitoring tools like DPA, Dynatrace (Preferred).
  • Azure/AWS or any other DB Architect certification is a plus (Preferred).
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) is a plus (Preferred).

Benefits:

  • All positions with Kaplan are paid at least $15 per hour or $31,200 per year for full-time positions.
