• As a Senior Systems Engineer on the Semgrep Analysis Foundations team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of code analysis, optimizing performance, and scaling for an ever-growing user base.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure that changes are released frequently and reliably through distribution methods such as pip, homebrew, and Docker.
• Build tooling to support users more effectively when they encounter problems.
• Make fundamental improvements to Semgrep’s analysis capabilities, improving performance, availability, and precision for all users.
• Advocate for architectural decisions that ensure the code is easy to reason about and can scale with a growing number of users.
• Set the technical roadmap for foundational analysis, incorporating feedback from users, program analysis engineers, and security researchers.
• Advise and mentor other engineers through thoughtful code reviews, technical discussions, and formal mentorship.

Requirements:

• Interest in code analysis, with experience studying interpreters, compilers, linters, or garbage collectors.
• 3+ years of experience managing critical services with large and exponentially growing user bases, especially focusing on performance and reliability using frameworks like Opentelemetry.
• Experience building for multiple operating systems (Linux, Apple Silicon, and Windows), including in CI environments.
• Experience working in a functional programming language (e.g., OCaml, Haskell) or a strong willingness to learn.
• Passion for shipping quickly and safely, solving real problems for users, and ensuring their reliability.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
