Software Engineer (Backend) Full Time

Orca aims to revolutionize finance with Decentralized Finance (DeFi) products, aspiring to be the next NASDAQ. The Software Engineer (Backend) role focuses on building scalable servers and data pipelines for Orca’s platform, interfacing with the Solana network. Orca, a remote-first company, values senior engineers with expertise in backend systems and a passion for DeFi.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement scalable servers in Rust.
• Build high-performance servers deployed on AWS.
• Ensure servers interface with the Solana network.
• Ensure servers interface with Orca’s web application.
• Develop data processing pipelines.
• Create systems for processing blockchain data.
• Focus on reliability in data processing.
• Focus on latency in data processing.
• Advance application features.
• Develop real-time monitoring features.
• Develop automated transaction execution features.
• Develop token balance analytics features.
• Manage database interactions.
• Handle data storage using PostgreSQL.
• Handle data management using PostgreSQL.
• Ensure data integrity in database interactions.
• Ensure efficient retrieval in database interactions.

Requirements:

• Proven track record working on performant services at scale.
• Experience ideally in finance or adjacent industries.
• Strong ability to analyze complex software systems.
• Ability to reason about software systems with clarity.
• Ability to solve problems efficiently.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Degree from a recognized university.
• Comfortable working independently in an async environment.
• Enjoy collaborating as a team.
• Passionate about certain technologies and patterns.
• Recognize trade-offs of technologies in different scenarios.
• Strong interest in building high performance backend systems.
• Proficiency in building high performance backend systems.
• Good understanding of how AMMs work.
• Good understanding of the Solana ecosystem.
• User of DeFi apps on Solana or other chains.
• Experience with Rust is a plus.
