Summary:
- Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform that helps businesses accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities.
- The Finance Engineering team works at the core of Stripe, empowering mission-critical financial domains including Accounting, Finance & Strategy, Tax, GTM, and Treasury.
- Engineers on the Finance Engineering team build platforms, data pipelines, and financial products for the Finance team led by Stripe’s CFO.
- Stripe handles big data, processes PBs of data daily, and maintains high availability and rigor in its financial systems.
- The team supports financial analytics, accounting automation, auditing, financial planning & forecasting, and business intelligence.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain large-scale platforms, data pipelines, tooling, and systems for the Finance team led by Stripe’s CFO, using front-end, back-end, data warehousing, and batch processing technologies.
- Make direct business impact in mission-critical business domains including Accounting, Finance & Strategy, Treasury, GTM, and Business Operations.
- Scope, design, implement, and deploy robust solutions, making tradeoffs between reliability, throughput, latency, resiliency, engineering velocity, and cost.
- Build watertight controls across pipelines to ensure high accuracy for financial transactions (hundreds of billions of dollars).
- Ensure accurate, reliable, and timely financial reporting delivered to a single source-of-truth financial data warehouse.
- Work in a collaborative environment with different stakeholders and subject matter experts.
- Uphold high engineering standards and improve the codebase and processes.
- Contribute to team strategy, roadmap, tooling, process, and culture.
Requirements:
- 5+ years professional software development experience.
- Experience designing and implementing solutions to large-scale data problems.
- Have delivered production systems of big scale.
- Write high-quality code. Stripe works mostly in Scala, Java, Spark, Airflow, and Javascript, but knowledge of these languages is not required.
- Interested in solving diverse business problems for Stripe’s Finance team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with big-data technologies such as Spark, Presto, Kafka, Flink, Google Big Query, and OLAP preferred.
- Not expected to have expertise in all areas, but eager to work on financial-related platforms/products.
