- This position is within the Data & Analytics team, part of NBCU’s global Operations & Technology organization, working across various brands and digital properties.
Responsibilities:
- Think like a Data Engineer to help discover, design & build Data Engineering initiatives.
- Manage and mentor a team of data engineers and managers to foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Manage budgets, vendors, resources & delivery of large, high-impact programs aimed at improving operational efficiencies for Data Engineering.
- Develop close working relationships with stakeholders to identify functional requirements for the data lakes, data warehouse, reports, and final data products.
- Ensure all technical projects are understood, documented, and progressing with complete visibility of all budgets, timelines, status, progress, dependencies, risks, opportunities, etc.
- Ensure all work is captured, vetted, planned, and tracked within JIRA, according to established practices.
- Help the product teams and development teams achieve their goals aligned with program roadmaps and initiatives.
- Lead development teams in self-organization, time, budget management, and workload balance.
- Define project roadmaps: ensure all milestones are met, risk is communicated, and data quality is never compromised.
- Prioritize department project work, delegate responsibilities effectively, and ensure accountability.
- Leverage prototyping methodologies to propose and design creative business solutions using the company’s broad technology toolset.
- Collaborate with IT platform, infrastructure, and architecture teams to introduce and integrate new analytics/data tools.
- Participate in data governance initiatives, helping develop and enforce documentation, data standards, and quality in the Data & Analytics programs.
- Organize and socialize metadata resources, such as data lineage documents, data mappings, data dictionaries, and knowledge base/wiki.
- Coordinate final production releases with project teams, ensuring clear communication, release notes, and integration.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field with a strong background in Computer Science/Engineering/Information Systems.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in developing data engineering products.
- 8+ years of experience with data warehousing projects, including 6 years of full lifecycle experience in implementation and support.
- 8+ years of experience with SQL or other data discovery/analysis platforms supporting day-to-day operations.
- 8+ years of experience in a business-facing data engineering role, with a proven track record.
- 6+ years of experience in system design and development using various tools and technologies.
- Demonstrated experience in Python, SQL, AWS, Snowflake, Big Query, S3, Glue catalogue, Athena, Airflow, and more.
- Experience in Data Modelling, Data Architecture, Data Quality, Metadata, ETL, and Data Warehouse methodologies.
- Proven ability to architect and design large-scale data solutions for rapid data ingest, processing, and responsive interaction.
- Experience leading and managing multiple teams, especially in data engineering.
- Experienced with leading projects in collaborative, multi-disciplinary development teams.
