Responsibilities:
- Work with the Director of Policy and the Policy and Finance Team to implement HealthySteps’ policy agenda.
- Develop strategies to support the HealthySteps network in advocating for early childhood care.
- Develop messaging and share funding opportunities with the HealthySteps network.
- Track legislative champions and opportunities related to early childhood development.
- Create fact sheets and collateral for HealthySteps’ services.
- Support HealthySteps in coalitions and assist in media responses.
- Contribute to the work of the HealthySteps National Office.
- Attend internal meetings and collaborate with the Policy Center.
- Develop strategies to articulate the value of HealthySteps to stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Understanding of federal policy processes (i.e., appropriations, rule making).
- Experience with coalition groups and stakeholder relationship building.
- Knowledge of health, mental health, and early childhood policies.
- Familiarity with Medicaid policy at state and federal levels.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Minimum five years relevant work experience, with Capitol Hill and state legislator experience a plus.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
Benefits:
- Salary estimated to be mid $70,000s to low $100,000s depending on experience.
