Responsibilities:
- Set the long-term architectural vision for user experiences and backend systems at Airbnb.
- Develop prototypes for new capabilities and collaborate with partner teams on feasibility.
- Advocate for opportunities that improve conversion, reduce contact, and enhance product quality.
- Mentor engineers across the Payments Engineering team.
- Lead incident response, monitoring trends, and driving improvements in Airbnb’s systems.
Requirements:
- 9+ years of Software Engineering experience with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Extensive experience in Java or similar within a microservice architecture.
- Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.
- Experience with architectural patterns of large-scale web applications.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to make data-driven decisions and articulate technical tradeoffs.
Benefits:
- Base pay range of $204,000 – $259,000 USD.
