Summary:

  • The VP of Data Platform will lead the vision and strategy for the company’s data architecture.
  • The role involves collaboration with product, operations, customer care, and engineering teams to create data-driven solutions that enhance customer value and operational efficiency.
  • This is a full-time role reporting to the Chief Technology Officer.
  • It is a remote, home-office-based role for candidates located in the continental United States.
  • Expected travel is minimal, at 5%.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a data platform strategy that aligns with business goals and the product roadmap.
  • Design scalable data architectures enabling advanced analytics.
  • Ensure the integrity, accessibility, and security of data assets through best practices in data governance and compliance.
  • Evaluate and improve the current data landscape, including technology stack, architecture, and governance.
  • Lead the development and continuous evolution of robust data platforms.
  • Implement best practices in data management, ETL processes, data warehousing, and governance.
  • Drive adoption of modern tools and technologies.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate data capabilities into products and operations.
  • Communicate complex data strategies to executive leadership and stakeholders.
  • Translate data-driven insights into actionable business outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • 15+ years of data engineering experience, including 5+ years in leadership roles within a fast-paced technology or SaaS environment.
  • Proven experience in building and scaling data platforms in a cloud environment (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Expertise in AWS tools like EC2, Redshift, EMR, Glue, and S3.
  • Experience with data pipeline orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Luigi), distributed frameworks (e.g., Spark), and programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL).
  • Expertise in data management, including data architecture, ETL processes, data governance, and data quality.
  • Exceptional leadership and mentorship skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
