Summary:
The Wikimedia Foundation is hiring a Wikimania Scholarships & Volunteer Associate (Contract) to support the facilitation and coordination of scholarships for Wikimania 2025 in Nairobi, Kenya. The role includes event support, volunteer coordination, and communication with scholars. This is a part-time contract position running from May to August 2025.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Wikimania 2025 Core Organizing Team in coordinating scholarships for attendees.
- Communicate with scholars regarding travel, visas, and accommodation requirements.
- Coordinate volunteer role opportunities for scholars.
- Attend weekly meetings with the Scholarship Coordinating and Core Organizing Teams.
- Develop an FAQ for scholars and respond to inquiries.
- Collaborate on creating and distributing the “Wikimania Guide for Attendees.”
- Attend Wikimania 2025 in Nairobi to support scholars on-site.
- Conduct post-event evaluations and reporting.
Requirements:
- Strong administrative and record-keeping skills.
- Experience with event coordination (3-5 years).
- Ability to work with a diverse group of people and volunteers.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience managing high-volume communications.
- Familiarity with tools such as email campaign platforms and record systems.
