Research & Development Consultant Full Time

Summary:

Eocene Environmental Group is seeking a Research & Development Consultant to assist the Director of R&D in maintaining knowledge of the utility vegetation management industry. This role involves public speaking, contributing articles, managing projects, and providing support in strategic consulting, field project management, and business analytics.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing training and expertise to clients and project CUFs on industry standards, laws, regulations, research, and technology.
  • Visit clients and perform field verification of data.
  • Analyze and interpret complex documents and data.
  • Create and maintain project budgets and analyze financial data.
  • Attain or maintain industry-related certifications (ISA Certified Utility Specialist, ISA Board Certified Master Arborist, and Tree Risk Assessment Qualification).
  • Provide project planning and logistic support to the Director of R&D.
  • Assist with RFP responses and write project reports.
  • Promote on-the-job safety practices.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local laws and follow company policies.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings.
  • Public speaking on arboricultural topics.
  • Contribute articles to industry trade publications.
  • Travel extensively (50% or more depending on needs).
  • Work during emergencies or natural disasters as required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Resources or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience preferred.
  • Supervisor experience is preferred but not required.
  • ISA Certification or ability to attain within 1 year; Utility Specialist TRAQ credential preferred.
  • Ability to promote and uphold Eocene’s mission, vision, and core values.
  • A growth mindset and eagerness to learn.
  • Must live within one hour of a commercial airport (location negotiable).
  • Interest and experience in urban forestry preferred.
  • Ability to work long hours (including evenings and weekends as needed).
  • Ability to work in diverse environments (both office and outdoor settings).
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
