Job Description:
RMI is seeking a social media creator and strategist to support the execution and creation of social media and related marketing content. Focusing on RMI’s work to spur the clean-energy transition across the Global South, this role will focus on our work in Africa, the Caribbean, Pacific Islands, and Southeast Asia. Around the world, RMI works to reduce barriers to the energy transition and implement climate solutions at scale. Through social media and strategic communications, we inspire action to make this vision a reality. This role will advance these goals by engaging with key audiences and stakeholders — such as policymakers, media, corporate partners, and the public – via diverse digital channels.
This hybrid role focuses mainly on executing social media content and strategy, in alignment with RMI’s wider brand and strategic goals, to engage and grow key audiences globally. As a related responsibility, the successful candidate will also act as a strategic communications specialist, working with project managers to set communications strategy, produce and deliver team-produced content – such as articles, reports, and media placements — that elevates the impact, research, and other work of subject matter experts of our Global South team.
Our ideal candidate is multi-talented, able to both think strategically and create content enthusiastically. In the social domain, they are highly creative and will help RMI’s Global South team grow its reach across LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, via paid and organic media. They have a knack for finding stories that capture RMI’s successes and bring them to life in ways that fit RMI’s brand voice, tailored by channel to appeal to our diverse audiences. They can translate complex climate and energy subject matter into accessible content and can spot emerging social media trends and test them with a growth mindset.
An ideal candidate will have a passion for social media, storytelling, and RMI’s mission to decarbonize the world’s energy system. This position reports directly to the social media manager, with a dotted-line relationship to the Global South strategic communications senior manager. They will also work closely with the media relations, editorial, design, marketing and audience teams to develop effective content and campaigns.
We highly encourage individuals from underrepresented groups to apply.
